gossipages

Ok, so it's been a really long time since I wrote here, but there's been nothing of note ^^

I found out that I wasn't successful in my application to the JET Programme, almost definitely due to my ill health, as they wanted me to provide them with lots of extra information that other applicants don't have to give. I must admit I feel slightly discriminated against, but what can you do but move on?

Anyway, I have a new plan. I've decided I'd quite like to go into Air Hostessing, probably with Virgin Atlantis (fit uniform anyone?). So I'm keeping an eye out on recruitment and stuff and hopefully will be able to apply for that soon.

In other news... uni work is a killer. No one warned me that the 4th year of a joint honours degree would be so hard! However, my dissertation is almost finished, one more chapter to do ^^

Ok... that's all. I'll keep you updated on my attempt to return to Japan!

The Waiting Game

So... that's it. The JET application is done, complete with statement of physician and doctor's note, all signed, sent off posted, GONE.

I have no idea when I'll find out if I've made it to interview stage or not... I just have to hope that I won't be discriminated against due to my ill health. If I make it to interview stage I'm relatively confident... it's just a matter of waiting, now.

This is going to be a really boring blog, I do apologise. I just had to get the wootness off my chest.

In other news, I am getting a new piercing on Thursday and have decided on my new tattoo. Hoorah!

Peace and Love.

save me from this crazy world

So, plan "return to Japan" has been stalled.

I need a letter from my head doctor describing lots of stuff for the JET Programme since you have to disclose every illness and all your medication taken in the last *eight* years! However, Mrs Doctor Lady has not yet sent me the letter, and the deadline is creeping up on me. I must admit I'm getting slightly worried now...

However, if I don't get accepted by the JET Programme, I need other ideas on how I can return to Japan. Any ideas?

And as always...

This time last year in Japan, I was mostly visiting Tokyo University and playing Lara Croft in Yanaka Cemetery.

すてきだね?

So, recently, things have been turbulent in plan "return to Japan".

I recently broke up with my Japanese boyfriend, therefore cutting off a main part of my plan to get back to Japan. Mostly due to the fact that I was going to work for his family!

So now, boys and girls, all 100% of my effort is going into my JET application! (and my International Business Management and Marketing Ethics essays at Uni... *sighs*)

I'll just leave the dissertation until the Christmas holidays, heh.

In the spirit of living in the past. On this day last year in Japan, I was visiting the Pokemon Centre in Hamamatsucho in Tokyo with Rodg and Kris. Happy times!

JET Application and Nostalgia

This week, I have mostly been playing the "what was I doing this time last year in Japan?" game.

This time last year, I was at a Willing Setagaya birthday party at a Keio dorm. I miss these people.

So, in order to return to Japan, after a lot of deliberating, I've decided to apply for the JET Programme.

I really wish I had decided this sooner... the applications opened a long time ago, yet I had plans to work with someone else in Japan. I've decided that this probably isn't the right way for me to go, and since a few of my friends are currently on the JET Programme or applying for JET, I've decided to apply, too.

A word of advice for anyone thinking of doing JET.... START EARLY! I'm drowning in paperwork as we speak. I've sorted out:

1. Passport photocopies

2. Personal statement

3. Academic transcript

4. Proof of degree

All I need now are my completed references and a note from my GP explaining my lack of good health. I won't get these at least until November 10th, however. I hate leaving it til the last minute!

And finally, to end... I'm doing a plug. My very good friend and fellow exchange student from the Keio days Rodg (aka Tokyo Swan) made videos of our time in Japan, and to be honest, they're bloody brilliant. I'm also in a fair few of them. BONUS. So here is the link, go check them out and leave him some love.

Bye bye~

自己紹介

Well.... considering this is my first post, I should probably introduce myself.

I'm Jennie, 22 years old, from Coventry in England. I've just returned from a year of study at Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.
(for that blog, add me on http://www.myspace.com/jennie_in_japan)

As much as I love my myspace blog and the following it gets from my lovely friends, I wanted something that could be available to more people.

I intend to use this blog to document my vain attempt at returning to Japan in Summer 2009, and probably to reminisce about past experiences during my year abroad. I'll also use it to plug my friend's vlog "Tokyo Swan". Especially when I'm in them! Who knows, I may actually learn to make my own next year...

Ok... So I guess that's all. The purpose of this blog and whatnot. たぶん次の日記で少し日本語で書くかもしれない。。。
